Fumiko Egawa is a textile designer whose Indian-ink paintings on silk and cotton have been exhibited at Takashimaya Stores and featured in publications such as Sosaku Ichiba and Contemporary Craft Japan Vol 2. Her work appears on this season's custom t-shirts.
Repatiation
TThe U.Mi-1 SS2010 collection is inspired by Picasso's famous painting Les Desmoiselles d'Avignon, which is known to have been greatly influenced by Africa. Gozi applies a subtle use of the cubist theory to African prints and traditional cuts such as the Nigerian agbada. A true homecoming.
